Vina Izadi is based in Villabuena in Rioja Alavesa, the highest part of Rioja. It was founded in 1987 by Gonzalo Anton in an effort to ‘satisfy the needs of our friends over a meal’ as they put it. This has clearly gone from strength to strength as the wines they now produce are really modern wines in an international style, but which remain true to their Riojan roots. Izadi has been creating a buzz since its first vintage 20 years ago and can now claim to produce some of Rioja's top wines. If you enjoy the mellow, silken texture of oaked reds with ripe berry and rich mocha aromas, you'll enjoy this superb Reserva.
A 100% Tempranillo aged 14 months in American and French oak, the Reserva is an outstanding value showing beautiful black and red currant fruits, high-quality, unsmoked cigar tobacco, licorice and loamy soil undertones. Deep, medium to full-bodied, very pure, rich and concentrated, this is a gorgeous wine to drink over the next 3-4 years.
