Description

THE WINE ADVOCATE 91+ points - Drink Date 2022 - 2027
There were some sweet spices in the nose of the 2020 Bonarda Single Vineyard, a juicy and varietal example from a warm and dry year when the grape ripened thoroughly. The wine shows notes of black berries and some earthiness. The tannins are ripe but grainy and give it a dusty texture. 7,500 bottles were filled in June 2021.

JAMES SUCKLING 94 points - A dense and mineral bonarda with fresh black cherries, graphite, white pepper, oyster shell, dark spices and exotic herbs. The full-bodied palate has lots of chalky tannins on offer, showing a fine austerity to the cherry fruit of bonarda. Not a lot of flesh but rather more structured and chalky. Drink or hold.

Erik (town shop Manager) recommends...

"Malbec fan? I might twist your arm next time and point you to this Bonarda instead. Deep violet with blue reflections in colour. Intense and complex. Packet with blackberries, raspberries, cherries in chocolate, underlined with sweet spice. Little bit herby on finish. Ripe and silky tannins with long persistent finish. Ideal partner for your fillet steak or lamb."
