A stunning wine this vintage from this world-renowned producer. The very old vine ‘Racines’ cuvée from vines with an average of 100 years, from a vineyard parcels surrounding the winery grown on clay and limestone soil.

"Although we are accustomed to making dark wines on the north-facing slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, thanks to the day-night temperature differential, the 2019 Terrasse du Diable took us aback slightly with its density and the depth of its garnet-red hue. It is thus no surprise that we have a tight, almost mute nose that is crying out for aeration to reveal itself – and this yields super-ripe black fruit such as bilberry and blackcurrant. Good structure, pure aromas.

On the palate, a winning presence: this is assuredly a rich, dense and vinous vintage. The black fruit is still in evidence; it has serious grip without being aggressive, and a sense of sucrosity due to the high percentage of Grenache, which imparts a suppleness on the finish. The wine's tannic frame is serious too, though never impairing its balance or overshadowing the tasting experience. Given its overall density and structure, we can safely assert that it has very high cellaring potential.”
