The day to day running of the estate is now in the hands of François Ambroise and his sister Ludivine. The reputation built by their father Bertrand over four decades for rich, opulent, full-bodied wines remains but François has injected more elegance and recent vintages have greater freshness and finesse. François picks a little earlier than in the past with the 2022 harvest running from 25th August (starting with the whites) to 12th September with most of the Nuits Saint Georges vineyards picked on the 4th, 5th and 6th September. The red bunches are 100% destemmed and François continues to use a high proportion of new oak when ageing the top red wines.
Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains is domaine’s most southerly red vineyard and the first grapes to be harvested in 2022. Ripe and sunny with glossy, opulent fruit and a warm, generous texture. Drink 2027-2032.
