Champagne, Tailoring, and a Dash of Movie Magic in London
26th February 2025
During a whirlwind London visit, we had the privilege of an unforgettable Champagne BILLECART-SALMON tasting of 8 different Cuvées with Charlie Wethered at the iconic Huntsman Tailors (yes, The Kingsman one!).
This was no ordinary tasting. We got to experience Le Clos Saint-Hilaire, a rare, single-vineyard Champagne that’s so exclusive only about six bottles are opened per year for such tastings. Even Kasia had never tried it before!
This exceptional Cuvée comes from a small one-hectare plot of Pinot Noir, planted in 1964 and still ploughed by horses today. Only 3,500–5,500 bottles are made each year, and we were lucky enough to taste the 2005 vintage. Think freshly roasted hazelnuts, dried fruits and pure decadence.
We have always loved Billecart-Salmon, not just for their impeccable Champagnes but for staying family-owned for over 200 years and proudly avoiding supermarkets. A brand to proud of! 🥰
We wondered why Huntsman was the chosen venue. Then Charlie explained that, in celebrating 175 years of bespoke excellence, Huntsman partnered with Billecart-Salmon to honour their shared legacy. Suddenly, it all made sense - three fiercely independent family businesses coming together for something truly special.
To top it off, we got a peek inside Huntsman’s workshop, best described as a living museum of tailoring excellence.
A huge thank you to Charlie for a tasting we won’t forget. Hopefully, we can welcome him for a customer event later this year... this time with a fog-free landing! ✈️🍾
