Notes: (new picture of 2008 vintage to be uploaded soon)Nicolas Catena was the third generation of his family to make wine in Mendoza but the first to see the potential in planting higher and higher vineyards in search of cool climate sites ideal for the production of fine wine. Today, over a decade on from the first Catena Malbec in 1994, he works with his daughter Laura (who improbably juggles her work as an ER surgeon in San Francisco with the family business) in their relentless pursuit of the finest possible quality wines from their unique vineyard sites.
Tasting Notes:Outstanding flavour where the emphasis is on ripe, varietal fruit characteristics and a more moderate use of oak. This wine displays a stunning array of ripe peach, pear and apple flavours which marry harmoniously with toasty oak. This is really really good and fabulous value for money. Showed superbly at the Catena dinner at Tassili, The Grand Hotel in April 2009 working perfectly with the succulent scallop and cucmber dish.
"Thank you so much for the speedy delivery of my order placed only four hours previously. What a service! The wine is for a birthday present for tomorrow, I scoured the town for this product with no luck, I went to your site and there it was, brilliant. I hope to use your site again when I need to buy wine, once again, thank you very much for your excellent service. "
